Cooling System - Radiator Caps
The radiator cap acts as a release valve set to open when pressure inside the cooling system increases above its psi rating. The pressure cap releases some of the coolant into the overflow using a spring loaded valve, and once enough coolant has left the system, the cap then closes again.
TECH TIP: Best practices to get the most out of your Radiator Cap.
- Check for corrosion on the inside of the cap.
- Replace every few years to ensure the pressure release system will work when needed.
